Rebel’s
Doggie Ramp

This web page will provide you with instructions on
how to build a dog ramp similar to the one in the picture above. The three
pages linked below show a three view line drawing of the plans. Print these
pages (be sure to use landscape mode on your printer so you will get the
entire drawing). Then refer to the instructions that follow …

Procedure:
Step 1:
-
Cut two side pieces out of 1/2" or 3/4" plywood (48" across bottom,
20" high and 17" across the top).
-
Cut top shelf out of 1/4" plywood (17" long and 8" wide).
-
Cut ramp out of 1/4" plywood to fit flush to top and even with bottom
(8" wide).
-
Cut back piece out of same material as two sides for stability, remembering
to leave it 2" shorter than height of ramp.
Step 2:
-
Nail ramp to top two side pieces.
-
Nail top to edge of two side pieces.
-
Nail back to back edge of two side pieces.
-
Applying wood glue to edges of two side pieces before nailing will make
it more sturdy.
Step 3:
-
For looks, cover the side and back pieces with material that matches
your bedroom and use a regular office stapler to staple the material.
Step 4:
-
Cover the ramp and the top of the ramp with carpet, gluing and tacking
down. Use one piece of carpet from bottom of ramp, up the ramp, across
the top to the back. This will give doggie good walking traction.
